This special edition will take a look at the whole aspect of Anthropology and its benefits to Forensics and Medical education and investigations.
As we know, Anthropology is the study of humans, who lived in the past and those at present; it considers their origins, physical and cultural development and diversifications, biological characteristics, their institutions, religious beliefs as well as social relationships or customs. Anthropology studies humanity in all its aspects from our evolution as a species, to our relationship with the material world, and our vast variety of social practices and cultural forms. The major concern of anthropologists is the application of knowledge in solving human problems especially Forensic and Medical.
Medicine is the study of the cause, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of diseases or illness. In forensic investigations, hand prints, foot prints, craniofacial evaluations, DNA typing from blood and hair etc., are applied.
Anthropological indices for example “anthropometrics” are being employed by Health professionals (Medicals) to check secular trends, and nutritional status in a given population.
Scientists are invited to submit articles that will contribute in handling emerging health and forensic problems using all aspects.
