Dear Readers,
The Radiology – Open Journal is launching a special edition on “Current Frontiers of Digital Medical Imaging”. I would like to cordially invite you to contribute a manuscript to this special edition.
The discovery of X-ray imaging, and medical imaging has played a crucial role in medicine. For more than a century, it has been frequently observed that the emergence of new medical imaging technology may not only cause paradigm shifts toward the clinical practice but will also revolutionize the concepts of medical diagnosis and treatments. In the past decade, several milestones in medical imaging technologies have been developed, spanning a wide spectrum of the imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, PET/SPECT, ultrasound, and so on. These new imaging technologies aim to provide new imaging parameters describing the structural/ functional information and offer a faster and/or higher-resolution imaging scheme integrating the strengths of different imaging modalities for visualizing molecular/cellular activities. While these new technologies have shed the light on various unresolved clinical issues, the revolutionary wavefront remains exploratory but promising.
With the emphasis on cutting-edge approaches and applications, the goal of this special edition is to bring together the papers that delineate the current frontiers of medical imaging in the form of original research articles, reviews, case reports, letters to editors, etc. The scope of the topics may be, but is not limited to, emerging imaging technologies, new algorithms, system development, clinical applications, etc.
